Even with clear waters, it can be tough to capture the sheer beauty of all the fish and underwater scenery while snorkeling, be it in California or elsewhere. This video, at Shaw's Cove in Laguna Beach, is chock-full of fish, but few were eager to let me get quite close.
This was one of the best trips I have had at La Jolla. Check out just how clear the water was near the garibaldi. A bright, sunny day, and calm waves makes all the difference! The seals were still somewhat hard to spot
Notice how much more murky it is in this video filmed while snorkeling in California at La Jolla cove, San Diego. Conditions weren't terrible and I still spotted plenty of fish, but the visibility is certainly far less than the above La Jolla trip.
Here, at Little Corona Beach, you will notice somewhat murkier waters and a litle current pushing the kelp around. This particular beach has a small stream flowing into it, leading to increased sedimentation in the water.
Yet another snorkeling trip to La Jolla. The visibility wasn't that great but the fish were incredibly friendly!
During this trip to Little Corona, I ran into amazing condition for snorkeling. 20+ ft of visibility and relatively calm waters, during late November.
