Promate Avanti Silicone Snorkel Mask 

 

The Promate Avanti snorkel mask is a comfortable, glass mask that has served me well on multiple snorkeling trips. It features a silicone, channeled skirt that forms a tight seal to the face well.  The version I use has side-windows for a more panoramic view, helping eliminate the somewhat "tunnel" feeling some of the more affordable masks tend to offer. 

One of my favorite features is the purge system. You'll notice it on the left, in the lower picture (ignore the white marks from too much sunscreen on my face when wearing the Avanti mask). Using a little bit of air, I am able to easily blow out small amounts of accumulated water, without having to remove my mask. The Avanti itself seals well to my face, but sometimes water still finds a way in (especially if you are changing it/rinsing it out in the waves), and the purge system allows for easy clearing of this buildup. The only critique I've had for Promate is the nose portion occassionally presses somewhat hard against my face, but usually re-adjusting the mask will fix this problem. 

I have really enjoyed using the Promate Avanti mask for my snorkeling trips, both in Southern California and in Hawaii.
