Snorkeling California:
And Beyond
Rush Action Camera Review
Whistler offers the Rush, a compact action camera featuring a backdoor LCD viewfinder and compatible attachment points with GoPro mounts.

Features
The Rush cam films at 1080p (30fps), 720p (60fps) and also shoots photos. Angle of view is 170 for 720 but unfortunately cuts down to smaller view on the 1080p filming. Interesingly, Rush offers not 1 but 2 microSD slots for increased storage. Doubles as a dash camera with included accessories and neat auto recording options. Finally, it has a solid LCD screen in the back allowing for easily changing between filming options and review prior images and video with ease.

Accessories
I really like the load of accessories Rush comes with: dash cam mounts and car chargers, surf mounts, plenty of adhesive grip mounts, and side bars, plus the waterproof case. The case is compatible with GoPro mounts, allowing for even more customizable mounting options. Finally, the case also has a screw holder, providing additional versatility for camera placement.

Function
The Rush works exceptionally well. I was impressed with the ease of use, thanks to the button layout. Video quality is fairly good, however, the color spectrum is a little limited.
Sadly, the waterproof case doesn't feature a flat lense. This leads to the "double bubble" effect seen also in older GoPro models, resulting in blurry underwater images. Battery life is roughly 1-1.5 hours with frequentuse, comparable with many other action cameras. When tested with a flat lense case from another company, video quality was fine underwater.

Summary
The Rush camera is a solid action camera with good video quality, great photos, and excellent accessories. However, the real deal killer for snorkeling with the Rush action camera is the lack of a flat lense on the waterproof case. Hopefully, the company will release a different case for the snorkeling fans in the future.
